Now that you have started your own cleaning service, you will find that as your business grows you will need to hire more and more people to work for you to accommodate the increasing number of accounts that you are handling. Before you start putting out ads in the paper or through the internet for the job positions you are requiring, you may want to put down the job description for the people you want to hire for your business.
Job descriptions are the “snapshot” of what the position you are offering is all about. It has to be able to convey as clear as possible what the job’s responsibilities and tasks that are entailed for taking on the job position. It specifies all the skills and knowledge needed to perform the job by the candidates. Don’t try to sugar coat the job description or you will most likely get the wrong individual for the job.
In creating a job description for your job opening you should indicate the purpose of the hob in your business and the role of the person taking that position in the company. In doing this it makes it easier to prepare a job advertisement. With this information it provides your prospective candidates the information and understanding of his or her responsibilities and if he or she is capable of handling such tasks. It will also indicate to the employee how he or she will be evaluated when the time comes. Job descriptions would also prevent overlapping of task and duties in the company and will clearly show what each person is responsible for.
When you write the job description for the position you have in mind be sure to put the position title. Initially you will only need one person in that specific position but as your company grows you may require 2 or more people to be handling the same job position but what they will be handling are 2 or more teams or clients. Also include who they will be reporting directly to so that a proper chain of management is established for your company. This will also indicate the line of promotion which will make it possible for your employees to see if there is room for growth in your company.
For the job description it would also be good to indicate what previous experienced will be preferred or required. As much as possible you want to be able to hire the most qualified individual you can find in the market. Indicate if you have any special requirements and or physical demands that the position may require. Since you are running a cleaning business you may want to include that a person may be able lift at least a minimum number of pounds or be able to stand for a long period of time and having dependable transportation etc.
In making job descriptions be detailed as possible to the persons indicating interest will have a clear knowledge of what he or she is getting into and also for you to be able to set your expectations as well.
