I have written HTML code in textpad to design a website for my web site design company . I am now going to purchase a domain from a company to host my website. Do I give them the code or do I have to use certain software to get it published on the web using the domain I will purchase?

I see that you have already designed page using notepad. Now when you contact a web hosting company for a web hosting package, they will provide you with a web hosting control panel like Plesk, Helm, CPanel etc. They will also provide you with a default username and password to login to the control panel. From within the CP you will get your FTP user id and password too.

Now you will use a FTP software or a specialized web design software like Dreamware to publish your website. You do not have to give your code to the hosting company. However, you can either call them or write to them for procedure as to how you go about uploading your file.

It's a little preplexing as to why you would link yourwebsite with working code, while at the same time annoucing that you haven't got it published. You would publish by web interface or by ftp interface.
